Bible Verses About Temptation and Struggling with Sin
Anyone pulled toward the same thing again and again knows it doesn’t yield to a simple “just resist.” You decide you’re done this time, and a while later the pull is back — with tiredness, shame, and the loneliness of holding the line alone.
Here are eight passages from the Bible about temptation and struggle. They don’t scold you, and they don’t make it sound easy. They lay out being pulled, and wanting to stand, one verse at a time, and let you read slowly.
What the Bible Says About Temptation
No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.
James 1:12
For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
Hebrews 2:18
For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin. Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:15-16
