Bible Verses About Prayer
You want to pray but you don't know where to start. You're not sure what to say, or which words are the right ones, or whether anyone is really listening on the other end. Plenty of people who pray every day still feel exactly that.
Here are eight passages from the Bible about prayer — how to pray, how God responds, and what answered prayer looks like. They don't hand you a formula or a script. Mostly they say this: it doesn't have to sound good. Say what's actually on your mind. We hope they make it easier to begin.
“Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8
‘Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and difficult things, which you don’t know.’
Jeremiah 33:3
The LORD is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
Psalm 145:18
Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them.
