Bible Verses About Doubt and Struggling to Believe
Doubt isn’t always leaving faith behind; sometimes it’s the opposite — you keep asking because you still care. What once felt certain is now behind a haze; you want to believe, but another voice keeps questioning, along with an unease about being judged if you say it out loud.
Here are eight passages from the Bible about doubt and faith. They don’t say doubting means unbelief, and they don’t push you to be sure by now. They lay doubt out, one verse at a time, and let you read slowly.
What the Bible Says About Doubt
Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, “I believe. Help my unbelief!”
Mark 9:24
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Matthew 14:31
Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.
